Some people have trouble getting their fish to eat them. Similarly, I'm not yet growing duckweed and some people have trouble getting their fish to eat that also. I *have* given the fish lots of stuff that gets overgrown in the growbeds, and they devour it. Particularly lettuce.
My system, if you're interested: fridaysaquaponics.blogspot.com

Re: Beginning Bees IV Installing Wax Foundation in Frames

Thanks for the hairpin tip. Very useful! Wish you every success in dumping Scott Walker. Wish we could get rid of Snyder over here in Michigan.

Re: How to Make Sugardine Antiseptic

Including Dr. Sheffield's Triple Antibiotic Ointment (Neosporine) from the Dollar Store, will thicken and strengthen this recipe.

Re: Welcome William Tell into the World

Lets face it, its not adult proof either... That said however, why not avoid showing them a bad example? You should never move backward from an attack unless its your only option. All movement should be to the angles. From 5 to 1 on the right and 7 to 11 on the left. Its better to move toward the attacker to the 11 or 1 o'clock directions. This actually would even more clearly show the problem with leaning backward. Shifting the weight to move the body at lateral angles will be even more difficult than moving backward. Any movement to the 6 oclock angle is risking a fall or even worse backing into that second attacker you didnt see coming up behind you. Even using it as an example risks inadvertently programing it into the student. If you are going to use backward movement make them fall or have them back into another attacker. Backward movement is a natural reaction and many students will need to have it drilled out of them.

Re: Aggressive Shooting Stance

Very good advice, Good video, CRAPPY audio! How about checking quality before posting, Redo this on a windless day for decent audio?

Re: Tennessee Baton Law

As I said, I am not a lawyer, so I cannot give legal opinion, but the defense is that you have a card certifying you as trained in the use of a baton, (the intent was for security) - Since, you cannot find a certifcation course in blackjack, I would not try to use this defense. Blackjacks would probably not be considered less lethal due to how they work - with a baton you can use joint locks or strike large muscle groups. A blackjack is for breaking bones and rendering someone unconscious - its harder to control, and I would imagine its use would be considered by the courts to be lethal force. BUT - Thats my two cents as a trainer and NOT my legal opionion.

Re: Tennessee Baton Law

Are BlackJacks considered batons in Tennessee?

Re: DIY Clothes Washer from Plunger

I converted a five gallon mop bucket with a wringer into the light load clothes washer and wringer. Using a toilet plunger with two one half inch holes drilled near the top to agitate the clothes. The holes keep the soapy water from foaming up too much. The clothes are noticeably cleaner when washed by hand. Works great on items like T-shirts, night gowns, towels, and underwear. Beats twisting and twisting the wet clothes when pressed in the mop wringer a few times to wring out all soapy water and at the final rinse. All that twisting of the wrists could lead to carpal tunnel syndrome. The wrung out water is then used to mop the floors (if soapy) or water the garden (if plain rinse water).

When I have to wash heavy items like blue jeans, I will use the spin cycle on the old and dying electric washer to wring out the final rinse water. Jeans sour quickly if you don't wring them out well. I also add about a cup of white vinegar to my final rinse water to help remove traces of soap and sanitize the clothes (3/4 cup of white vinegar to three gallons of clear final rinse water). Clothes feel softer when the soap is all removed. Towels absorb better when not stiff with dried soap, too.

Wash once and rinse twice. That's how I do it.

Re: Aggressive Shooting Stance

Good tip.

I don't think the system works efficiently that way. There are too many people and possibilities to live in "absolutes". People are using their judgement less and the orders from others more.

Re: Pressure Canning Beans

Awesome, how did it go?

Re: Pressure Canning Beans

Thanks! Tonight was my first time to can any thing. I watched your video several times. My beans are in my brand new canner as we speak. It is just a Presto from Walmart and not nearly as nice as yours.

I was so nervous, I came back to watch your video again. I kept reading the instruction manual. I did made some mistakes. One, I did not use that little spatuala thing to get rid of the air bubbles. I didn't remember until the beans were in the canner. Two, I put way too much water in my canner. I had to take some out. I did what you said not to do. I put the water in first, and then the jars. I was able to correct that mistake. Getting it started once the lid was on was a little confusing for me. I just wasn't sure and turning it up high was kind of scary for me. It is rocking along now (I should say gently rocking). I am still nervous and worried the whole thing is going to explode.

Oh, and I used your lemon juice suggestion, too.

Your presentation was great. It was clear and easy to understand. You helped me a whole lot. Thank you so much.
